Southern California Update

Hello again from Southern California: I am happy to announce that the banquet season is treating us well this year,
as we have had 5 successful banquets already – that's 3 more
than last year at this time! Special mention to the High Desert Chapter,
who now joins
the Temecula chapter with over 100 members and Atascadero FIRST EVER banquet,
hit GOLDEN GOBBLER!!

Another first for us in Southern California - a banquet
in Los Angeles County! Big thanks to Manuel Cruz and the San Gabriel chapter
for all the hard work. It's quite the challenge to have a NWTF banquet in the middle of a
concert jungle!

The weekend of March 9 brought a new adventure into southern California...NWTF biologist Ryan Mathis spent the weekend with us,
first holding a seminar at Bass Pro
Shops, and then joined the Temecula chapter in their habitat work in the Cleveland National Forest.
We had our own "Field Trip" to find, prepare and repair local mountain
guzzlers for the betterment of the turkeys and other local wildlife. It was AWESOME!

Inland Empire's chapter followed a great lead, went pounding on the US Forest doors, and secured a great opportunity to plant
over 3,500
trees in the San Bernardino Mountains! That's right – over 3,500!! Randy Succow and his chapter did an outstanding job
in setting this up, working with the USFS, and gating volunteers
from other chapters as well. Way to go!! With dedicated volunteers
like these it won't be long before
we start seeing more turkeys in our area!

We are still looking for help in a few areas, specifically: Antelope Valley area– new chapter beginning, please contact
Bill Harrison at 818-893-1170 for more information.
We have
also started development work in the Santa Barbara area – if you know
any one who
might be interested please have them contact David Fildey at 805-682-8841.

Congrats, to everyone who went out and got their spring birds!  (Happy to say I finally joined you the weekend of April 25).
Thanks again for all of your hard work and dedication! Contact Dave at the numbers below.
